It seems like it was yesterday
We were skating through the streets
If only things had gone my way
If there had just been one more week
I would make the time to spend with you
To create the best of memories
It happened so fast I didn’t know what to do
To say I miss you expresses it the very least

I am sorry now you didn’t have the time
To make something of yourself
But in years we shared were the best of times
It’s sad that you are somewhere else

The times we shared laughing and skating
They will always be here with me
Things would be better if you were here
If you were more than just a memory
Remember when you would come into town
We would play hack and make the best of time
Or even when we just sat around for hours
How did enjoying life become such a crime?

I am sorry now you didn’t have the time
To make something of yourself
But in years we shared were the best of times
It’s sad that you are somewhere else

At just fifteen when cancer struck
Upon our knees we fell
We looked to the sky and asked why
And then we prayed like hell
But through prayer and chemo you had fought
While we all stood at your side
Nothing more we could have done but wait
And then came July 25th the day you passed away

I am sorry now you didn’t have the time
To make something of yourself
But in years we shared were the best of times
It’s sad that you are somewhere else

It’s been so hard to say goodbye to you
So much of me just can’t let go
The hearts you touched all scorch with pain
Why did they take you in such early days?
I can’t believe that months have passed
Since the day you went away
When it seems like it was yesterday
We were skating through the streets!

This is for Alex Scott Cope who died on July 25th 2006 may he rest in peace but his memeory go on forever he was more than a kid or friend he was my hero!
