Merry Christmas Mother

Oh mother tell me, how did you do
the dinner, the children and smile too?
I now have just began to fight
to get some sleep on this Christmas Eve night.
The turkey’s done, and so’s the ham
the veggies, the taters and the yams.
Who said there’s no Santa?
Well, let me say this
I know who he is at every Christmas!
Mother, you didn’t forget very much,
you kept the spirit through Christmas and such.
You dressed us, and fed us and cleaned up the mess,
when it came to our presents you always said…”guess”!
Our Christmas was happy but what did we care,
we knew that ol’ Santa and his good old Reindeer,
wouldn’t let us down again
let’s sing and dance and let Christmas begin!
I knew you were there somewhere in the crowd
especially when we always got loud!
But…not until now have I come to find out,
I know what Christmas is really about.
Mother I understand why you sit there and rest,
It’s our turn to treat you, Merry Christmas…God Bless.

A Cowboy Christmas

On a Cowboy Christmas in the West.
Another Cowboy Christmas song and dance.
Driving our herd.Drinking our ale.
As we make our way.Along the trail.

Ranch lights glistening.
Children listening.
To hear sleigh bells in the snow.

On a Cowboy Christmas in the West.
I think this Christmas. We’ll be blessed.
We’ll drive our cattle.Pull off that saddle.
Then we’ll get ourselves some rest.

Ranch lights glistening.
Children listening.
To hear sleigh bells in the snow.

On a Cowboy Christmas in the West.
Our Cowboy Christmas is the best.
Firewood burning.Charcoal churning.
Santa Claus smiling with the rest.

Ranch lights glistening.
Children listening.
To hear sleigh bells in the snow…

Ring In The New Years

Ring in the New Years.
Ring out the old.
Keep all those dreams and wishes.
Keep heart and soul.
Never try to break a promise.
Never let me go.
Wear all those fancy dresses.
Call me on the phone.
And if you ever need me.
Just let me know.

Ring in the New Years.
Ring out the old.
Forget all those times of trouble.
So the story’s told.
Never try to tell me bad lies.
Never make me cry.
Wear all those fancy outfits.
Call me on the phone.
And if you ever need me.
Just let me know.

Ring in the New Years.
Ring out the old.
Keep all those dreams and wishes.
Keep heart and soul…

A Christmas Whistle

If I had a Christmas whistle.
I’d blow it in your face.
I’d make lots of noise.
Without no disgrace.

It’s Christmas time darling.
And joy fills the air.
For Santa is calling.
His team of reindeer.

There’s snow on the rooftop.
Firewood in the stove.
Warming up Santa.
From the bitter and cold.

On Dasher, On Prancer, On Vixson let’s go.
For Santa is waiting.
To get on with the show.

So if I had a Christmas whistle.
I’d blow it in your face.
I’d make lots of noise.
Without no disgrace.

It’s Christmas time darling.
And joy fills the air.
For Santa is calling.
His team of reindeer…

Spirit of Christmas

I have a list of people I know
All written in a book
And every year at Christmas time
I go and take a look

And that is when I realise
That those names are a part
Not of the book they’re written in
But of my very heart

For each name stands for someone
Who has crossed my path some time
And in that meeting they’ve become
A treasured friend of mine

And once you’ve met some people
The years can not erase
The memory of a pleasant word
Or a friendly face

So when I send a Christmas card
That is addressed to you
It’s because you’re on that list
Of folk I’m indebted to

And you are one of many folk who
In times past I’ve met
And happen to be one of those
I don’t want to forget

And whether I have known you for
Many years or few
In some way you have a part in
Shaping things I do

This, the spirit of Christmas, that
Forever and ever endures
May it leave it richest blessing
In the hearts of you and yours.

It’s Time

Hearts are opened and are all full of cheer,
People are nicer, generous and more sincere,
Its also a time for giving,
a time to show love,
A time for giving presents, and many, many hugs.

A time to hang mistletoe,
and sneek your loved one a kiss,
A time to think about ones that are truly missed.

It’s time to unwrap presents gaily,
with a look of surprise,
When opened and see what Santa had inside.

Its a time for stories,
and warm Christmas fires,
cups of Hot cocoas,
Full of gooey marshmallows.

Its time for Jack Frost to nip at you nose,
and get all bundled up in warm winter clothes,
Sweaters, and gloves,
mittens and boots.

Don’t look now but her chimminey is all full of soot,
Its time for bells to be ringing,
Ching a ling a ling,
Its time for angel’s to get their wings.

So they can come back from heaven and wish world peace.
If even for one night at least.

So Merry Christmas Everyone,
Young and old,
big and small,
short or tall.

Its time to celebrate.

Holy Season 2003

Jingle bells, jingle bells!
Jingle not all the way,
Joy not in many hearts,
Grief instead today.

Delightful Rhymes!
Inspire the gifted minds
To write voices loud, clever
To be uttered everywhere.

Lyre of ancient Greeks!
Strike the strings in high pitch
Balmy power to heal
Troubled Souls there and here.

Dove, symbol of peace!
Spread out your wings,
Compel the Spirit of love
To rejoice in friendship.

“Peace on Earth to Men”!
May the ancient Saying lighten
The sorrowful Lot
Of many grieving hearts.

Turkey Trot

Thanksgiving is coming-
All turkeys beware
Of big men with guns,
And a venomous stare.
Don’t fall for their tricks,
And try to stay thinner,
Or they’ll put you on their tables
For Thanksgiving dinner.
Disguise yourself
As well as you can,
Before you end up
In a cooking pan.
So if you’re a turkey,
And you want to stay living,
If you are feeling thankful,
But not very giving,
Then take my advice
And run away from your farm,
Because sticking around
Will bring you nothing but harm.
Have a happy Thanksgiving,
Or try to at least.
I hope you’ll be feasting,
Instead of the feast.

Seasons

Moments of Joy And Laughter
Deaths And Disasters
We All Love Them
We All Dread Them
Either Way We Know
We Will Except Them

Time Of A Breeze
Time Of A Storm
Time Of Snowballs
Time Of Sickness
To Look Forward To The Sun
So We Will All Have Some
Fun

Getting A Tan
Getting A Scratch
Looking For Beaches
To Splash And Crash

Taking A Walk In The Midsummer Night
Looking At The Stars So Bright
Is So Romantic
Its So Exciting
I Can’t Imagine A Day Without It
But Suddenly As You Dream
It Fades
And Everything Goes Away

Falling So Soft
On The Ground Hard
Its Getting A Little Chilly
How Can I Fill The Hours
In Such A Time
That Seems To Last A Lifetime?

Everything Is So Sad
Because All I Think Of
Is The Past

Sweets of May

The spice of the currant blossom
Floats upon the air.
Makes my feet go up and down,
A garland in my hair.

For I am a country dancer,
The best you’ve ever seen.
Golden is my partner
With a smock of green.

We dance around the lilacs
And through the greeny grass
As the music slides and trembles
And the May lasts

On into the summer,
June and then July,
Autumn and longy winter.
All the seasons die.

O how I miss the springtime
And the May again
When the men dance around the ladies
And the ladies go round the men.

Dear Mom

We’ve had some difficult times and
I don’t know if all the hurt and pain can be mended.

I know that mothers and daughters
don’t always get along and see eye to eye,
and I realize now that you are only human not superwoman!

I wish that I could have been that perfect child
that you wished for me to be.
Not so argumentive and strong with my words.

I wish I would have made some different choices,
but I’m not perfect and I did make some wrong choices in my life.

I know you only want whats best for me
and I know that most of the time I don’t listen to your advice,
I’m stubborn, this I know and maybe even a little selfish and egotistical.

I have children of my own now and sometimes
I see some of me in them and I wonder how you could have
remained strong through the years.

I know now just how much it hurts when your child is so difficult.
I know now just how many tears you cried,
how many late nights you went through worry.

I know you said to yourself on numerous occasions,
‘Why?’
Why is she such a difficult child, where did I go wrong?

Mom, you did no wrong, you did the best you could,
you loved me the only way you knew how.

I realize now, that in raising children
you are not handed a handbook, you learn too.

I know it’s not easy raising children,
especially difficult ones, and I know it may be too late,
but I’m sorry.

I thought maybe this Mother’s Day I should tell you -
I love you very much and someday it will show.

What’s the best season?

What’s the best season, I wonder.
Summer, Fall, Winter, or Spring?
They’re all good in some way,
Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring.

Summer is the time of heat,
Of swimming pools and lemonade.
Sweaty children go to play,
And build sand castles at beaches where their mommas laid.

Fall is a time for change,
Crisp, brown leaves fall from their trees.
Shorts put away, jackets are in,
Kids are in school, getting grades of Cs.

Winter, it is really cold,
Time for blizzards, time for snow ball fights.
Too cold for swimming, too cold for sports,
Gets dark too, so turn on the lights!

Spring is for rain, rain, rain.
Flowers bud and flowers bloom.
Snow is melted, time for children to play,
Butterflies peeking from their cocoons.

What’s the best season, I wonder.
Summer, Fall, Winter, or Spring?
What’s the best season, I wonder.
I’ll leave that for you to decide.
